Like so many people who enjoy Corvettes, I have
always been a car guy. Starting with my 50 Merc whose rear end dragged around
from being lowered so much, to my Corvette today. Cars have always been
important and special to me.
Everyone remembers their first ride in a Vette and I'm no exception.
I was a teenager and got a ride in a 1958 Vette with the top down. Yeah,
I was hooked!
Several years in the Navy and then many years raising
a family, the Vette was on hold. Then one day at the Freehold car show I was
admiring a C3 telling my wife , Mary-Jo , how I always meant to have a Vette.
She replied, what's wrong with now? With that kind of support I
started my quest for "thee" Vette.
My first was a 1970 red convertible with a 4 speed and modified engine. Of
course Corvettes are like potato chips, one is never enough. So, about six
months later came my second Corvette, a red C5 convertible from Kerbeck. This
complimented the other as this one was stock with an automatic.
I had heard about Surf Corvette Club and sought them
out. This turned out to be great. I've been there a few years now and
have had wonderful times taking trips, being part of Corvette events, and
with fellow Surf members, hosting car shows.
Sad as I was, I had to sell the 70 when I lost its
storage garage. My C5 and I are still going strong but I swear it's
lonely ..... so maybe another Vette ??????
